Open Consultation on The Greenhouse – Scout Hut and Community Centre

Date: 11th May 2021 Author: Jenny Harlow

The Greenhouse Team warmly welcomes Fetcham residents to the Cock Lane Recreation Ground for an open consultation session on Saturday 22 May 2021 between 10:00am-12:00pm.

Our new Scout HQ was granted planning permission before Christmas last year and, due to the pandemic, hasn’t been able to arrange any open consultations until now.

The project to develop a new community centre to replace our current Scout Hut is a partnership between 1st Fetcham Scout Group, St Mary’s Church, Mole Valley District Council and the broader Fetcham community and is being led by a not-for-profit community interest company, formed specifically for this purpose.

The new modern and versatile building has been designed in collaboration with our Scout Group and for the wider community in order to offer much more space for activities, easier accessibility, storage and will have more facilities than we currently have like more toilets, meeting rooms and a café.  The building is being called The Greenhouse.

Saturday 22 May will be an opportunity for Fetcham residents to discuss any queries or concerns about The Greenhouse Project.  Alternatively email info@greenhousefetcham.org and they’d be very happy to arrange a discussion.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
