News!
13 scouts from Badingham troop set out on a cold and wet Saturday morning to take part in their expedition hike into the Surrey Hills. This involved doing all the planning for the trip and carrying full resources and provisions for the hike and an overnight stay.
The destination was a campsite in Ockley some 20km away from the Scout Hut in Cock Lane. Despite the appalling conditions the Scouts made good time and (with the odd detour!) made it to the site in good time to rendezvous with Chris.
None of the boys allowed the weather to dampen their spirits and they are all keen to do a longer hike in the near future.
Well done lads!
Inspired by the London Olympics 2012, the 1st Fetcham Scout Group have taken up the challenge and organised a series of sporting events such as cycling, athletics and water activities.
The first event was held on Saturday 28th April – an air rifle shooting competition for cubs, scouts, explorers and their families. There were over 70 competitors, from the youngest cub aged 10 to a sporting grandma in her sixties.
Their achievements will be honoured at the official medal ceremony which is being held as part of the Fetcham Festival on Saturday 23rd June. This community event will be held at the Cock Lane Recreation Field between 12-4pm. It promises to be a fantastic event, brim-filled with local sponsors, organisations and sporting clubs providing stalls, demonstrations and taster sessions throughout the day.

The District 5 a side Football Competition held at the Mole Barn, Leatherhead on Sunday 4 March.
Which Badingham Troop actually won.
One of the Parents sent this email after the event:-
The Badingham boys showed great organisational skills and a fabulous team spirit to take them through to win the shield yesterday. (which incidentally hasn't been played for since 1996!)
But what was most heart-warming was the Cannon troop cheering and supporting the Badingham boys in the semi and the final and their sporting attitude throughout the tournament.
We had a very successful Family Fun Day at Manor Farm, Manor House Lane, Bookham KT23 4EW.
We had in excess of hundred people come to the event which had a great variety of activites including rope climb, campfire cooking, go kart racing, circus skills, craft and biscuit decorating.
The refreshments team were kept extremely busy supplying soup, blt's hot dogs and cakes to everyone.
During the event the Group made a presentation to John Bourne, who has retired as our Group Scout Leader after 13 years.
We also recruited some volunteers to our service team to help with a variety of jobs including hut maintenance, event helpers and helpers for sections.
Thank you to everyone that supported us.
On the weekend of the 15th/16th October 2011 1st Fetcham Scouts entered the District Scout Camping Competition.
There were two other patrols from 1st Bookham taking part. After a weekend where the competition was very tight and there were not many points seperating the patrols, 1st Fetcham won. Their sliding gateway of flags certainly made an impression on the judges.
